Overview Of Testing In Online Courses

A comprehensive look at designing tests for online environments by Learning Solutions Magazine (link here).  Noteworthy is the discussion on giving learners control over the content, with an emphasis on creating individualized learning environments that target personalized areas of need.  Using pre and post tests to diagnose the learner’s needs and to track their progress and eventual mastery of the subject has always been recognized as essential in most courses.  However, the article spends a great deal of time stressing the role of tests embedded in the coursework to guide and allow the learner to apply the content in a building block format.
